Selling miles in 2026: The complete guide
Unused miles lose value over time or expire. This guide brings together everything to know before selling and links to in-depth articles on individual programs, prices, taxes and safety.
Which programs you can sell
On MilesMarket the delivery method depends on the program. Programs such as British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Finnair or Aer Lingus use direct transfer. Miles & More, Flying Blue, KrisFlyer and many credit-card programs use an award booking for the buyer instead.
- Direct transfer: Avios programs (BA, Iberia, Qatar, Finnair, Aer Lingus)
- Award ticket: Miles & More, Flying Blue, KrisFlyer, Virgin, JAL
- Per-program details in the Loyalty Hub
How the price is formed
The price per 1,000 miles depends on the program, demand and current marketplace listings. The Market Index and calculator show reference values based on real listings. A reference value is not a guaranteed sale price.
The process in four steps
Create an account and confirm your email, verify your identity, set up payouts, create a listing. After a purchase you deliver through the supported method; payment is processed securely by the payment provider and released after successful delivery.
