Anti-Fraud Policy

Measures to detect, prevent and handle fraudulent activities.

1. Purpose

  • MilesMarket is committed to providing a safe and trustworthy platform for trading airline miles, hotel points and other loyalty rewards.
  • This Anti-Fraud Policy describes measures to detect, prevent and handle fraudulent activities.

2. Zero-tolerance principle

  • MilesMarket pursues a zero-tolerance policy against fraud, deception, identity misuse, money laundering and other unlawful activities.
  • Violations may lead to suspension of user accounts and further measures under the platform policies.

3. Suspicious activities

In particular, the following may be considered suspicious:

  • unusually high transaction values,
  • an unusually high number of transactions within a short time,
  • frequently changing payment data,
  • contradictory identity information,
  • multiple user accounts of the same person,
  • use of suspended accounts,
  • forged documents,
  • manipulated screenshots,
  • unusual technical access patterns,
  • repeated complaints for similar incidents.
  • The assessment is always made with regard to the individual case.

4. Prohibited conduct

The following are prohibited in particular:

  • identity theft,
  • use of stolen means of payment,
  • use of compromised loyalty accounts,
  • fraud in purchases or sales,
  • submission of forged evidence,
  • creation of sham transactions,
  • price manipulation,
  • money laundering,
  • terrorist financing,
  • circumvention of sanctions,
  • circumvention of account suspensions,
  • misuse of buyer protection,
  • misuse of seller protection.

5. Security checks

To enhance security, MilesMarket may deploy appropriate technical and organizational review measures. These may include in particular:

  • identity checks,
  • plausibility checks,
  • document checks,
  • device and login analyses,
  • transaction checks,
  • anomaly analyses,
  • manual reviews.
  • To preserve the effectiveness of these measures, MilesMarket does not publish details of internal review mechanisms.

6. Additional evidence

In case of substantiated doubts, MilesMarket may request in particular the following information:

  • proof of identity,
  • proof of authority to dispose over a loyalty account,
  • payment records,
  • communication records,
  • further documents, as required for clarification.
  • Processing takes place exclusively within the scope of applicable data protection laws.

7. Provisional measures

Where there are concrete indications of a significant violation or security risk, MilesMarket may, taking into account the circumstances of the individual case, in particular:

  • carry out additional checks,
  • temporarily deactivate listings,
  • restrict features of the user account,
  • temporarily review transactions,
  • request re-verification of identity.
  • Statutory rights of affected users remain unaffected.

8. Cooperation with authorities

  • MilesMarket cooperates with competent authorities to the extent permitted or required by law.
  • The transfer of personal data takes place exclusively on a legal basis or based on a corresponding obligation.

9. Duties to cooperate

Users undertake to:

  • answer security requests truthfully,
  • provide requested evidence within deadlines,
  • report identified security issues without delay,
  • adequately protect their access credentials.

10. Account security

Users are in particular obliged to:

  • use secure passwords,
  • keep access credentials confidential,
  • report unauthorized access without delay,
  • not circumvent security features of the platform.

11. Repeated violations

  • In the event of repeated or particularly serious violations, MilesMarket may, subject to statutory requirements, take additional measures, in particular permanent exclusion from the platform.

12. Amendments

  • MilesMarket may adapt this Anti-Fraud Policy to legal requirements, technical developments or changes to the business model.
  • The current version is published on the platform.
