KYC & Identity Verification Policy

When and how MilesMarket carries out identity verification.

1. Purpose

  • To protect the platform, its users and to prevent fraud, MilesMarket may perform or require identity verification.
  • This policy describes when and under what conditions verification may take place.

2. Purpose of verification

Verification serves in particular to:

  • prevent fraud,
  • detect multiple accounts,
  • avoid stolen identities,
  • prevent misuse of the platform,
  • clarify disputes,
  • comply with statutory requirements,
  • increase the security of all users.

3. When may verification be required?

MilesMarket may require verification in particular in the following cases:

  • registration of a seller account
  • unusually high transaction volumes
  • suspicious activities
  • multiple user accounts
  • security warnings
  • suspicion of identity misuse
  • disputes
  • statutory obligations
  • requests from competent authorities
  • Verification may also take place on a sample basis.

4. Possible evidence

Depending on the individual case, the following documents may be requested — for private individuals:

  • national ID card
  • passport
  • residence permit
  • driver's license (where suitable)
  • In addition, the following may be requested: selfie for identity confirmation, proof of address (e.g. a recent utility bill or bank statement, where required), confirmation of a telephone number, confirmation of the email address.
  • For companies, the following may additionally be requested: commercial register extract, business registration, proof of representation, tax identification data, where required.

5. Document review

  • MilesMarket may check submitted documents for plausibility and authenticity or use suitable service providers for this purpose.
  • The review takes place exclusively for the stated purpose.

6. Refusal of verification

If requested verification is refused without justification or if manifestly false documents are submitted, MilesMarket may, taking into account the circumstances of the individual case, in particular:

  • request additional information,
  • restrict certain features,
  • deactivate listings,
  • temporarily suspend the user account,
  • permanently close the user account.

7. Data protection

  • Personal data and identity documents are processed exclusively in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
  • Access to identity data is limited to persons who need this information to perform their tasks.

8. Update of information

  • Users undertake to update changes to material identity or company data without delay in the user account.

9. Multiple accounts

  • MilesMarket may merge, restrict or suspend accounts where multiple accounts are held contrary to the platform policies or where there is a substantiated suspicion that accounts are used to circumvent restrictions.

10. Security measures

To increase account security, MilesMarket recommends in particular:

  • use of secure passwords,
  • activation of two-factor authentication, where available,
  • protection of access credentials,
  • regular review of account activity,
  • immediate reporting of suspicious activity.

11. International users

  • For international users, additional evidence may be required depending on the statutory requirements of the respective country or the payment service provider used.

12. Cooperation with payment service providers

  • Where payment processing takes place via external payment service providers, they may require additional identity checks within the scope of their own legal obligations.
  • MilesMarket has no influence on the respective review procedures or decisions of the payment service provider.

13. Amendments

  • MilesMarket may adapt this policy to legal requirements, technical developments or changes to the business model.
  • The current version is published on the platform.
